Azad Sally, central provincial councillor and leader of the National Unity Front, accused the police on Sunday of inspecting all vehicles and individuals visiting his home.
Speaking to Newsfirst, Sally accused the police of acting with malice.
He said that the police, which had been unable to apprehend those responsible for recent events in Aluthgama and Beruwela, were instead targeting proponents of national unity and co-existence.
