The remains of a woman have been discovered with lacerations on her throat in a shrubbery area in close proximity to the Gampola Hospital.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 32-year-old resident of Welimada who had been employed at a private firm that takes care of patients.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana notes that the murder is suspected to have taken place while she was returning to her temporary residence in Gampola on Friday morning.
An individual was found unconscious close to the location where this victim was discovered.
The police noted that the individual had consumed a poisonous substance. He has been identified as 38-year-old Upul Rajakaruna.
A knife, cell phone, a bag of clothes as well as a sarong were also discovered by the police.
