UNP candidate’s son attacked with sharp weapons

The son of UNP Candidate from Western Province, Kithsiri Kahatapitiya, has been injured after he was assaulted with sharp weapons.

Police stated that the son of the Candidate, Malith Kahatapitiya, was assaulted at around 11.30 Tuesday night near the Agaruwathota Yala Junction.

Malith Kahatapitiya was thus attacked while he was en route to participate in the preparations for an election meeting.On the way, a group had assaulted the candidate’s son after blocking the road on which he had been travelling. Two motorcycles had been used to block the road.

Malith Kahatapitiya was admitted to the Horana Hospital for treatment.

Police stated that they have arrested a suspect in connection to the incident, and added that they are currently conducting investigations to arrest two more.
