Parliament was adjourned on Friday until February 18 with the adjournment debate on the energy crisis not being taken up.
Certain opposition MPs had staged a demonstration instead of presenting the adjournment motion.
Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody decided to adjourn Parliament as opposition MPs had disregarded a request to present the adjournment motion.
Meanwhile, MP Sujeewa Senasinghe raised a question in Parliament on Friday whether the Ceylon Electricity Board had reached long term agreements to purchase electricity from private thermal power stations, disregarding the decisions of the cabinet and the treasury.
