The remains of a woman was discovered in a house located in the Pahalahathugala  area in Pothuhara, Kurunegala. According to the police the remains were discovered on Monday.

Police notes that the victims is believed to have been murdered with the use of a sharp weapon.The deceased has been identified as sixty-three-year-old D.R. Mallika Jayanthi.

The magisterial inquiry into the death was carried out by Polgahawela Magistrate Harsha B. Ragala. The Pothuhera  Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, navy officers recovered the corpse of a male that was afloat in the seas off the Mahamodara coast. The remains of the victim were handed over to the Galle Police by the navy.

The remains are currently lying at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital. The identity of the  victim ha not been ascertained as yet.
