The Department of Postal Services has decided to commence investigations into the incident where a batch of letters belonging to the Kottu-Kattiya sub post office in Anamaduwa, were found in a nearby forest.

Postmaster, General Rohana Abeyrathne stated that this initiative was taken with regard to the reports on such an incident received on Monday.

The postmaster further stated:

“We have already commenced investigations into the incident. We can only take steps by law to punish the officer in charge of such wrong doing and has not fulfilled his professional duty in a proper manner. We are to commence further investigations into this and take steps with regard to this accordingly. So far we have informed the the North Western postal officer in-charge about the matter.”
