Venerable Theripaha Siridhamma Thero on Thursday responded to a statement made at a press conference convened by the Siyane Joint Environment Protection Organisation on Wednesday evening.

Legal Advisor of Siyane Joint Environment Protection Organisation, Attorney-at-Law Palitha Senaratne stated on Wednesday;

“Their main purpose is to reopen this factory. Most Western countries have prohibited this industry. There have been endless discussions. However, they are not doing anything in a transparent and honest manner. These discussions are taking place to deceive the people. We will continue our struggle with a common purpose. The Thera has withdrawn from this and he remains silent. Pramitha is steering his own campaign. But there are no conflicts between us.”

Venerable Theripaha Siridhamma Thera responded to the statement of Attorney-at-Law Palitha Senaratne;

“I will remain silent when I should be silent. I will speak only if something needs to be said. However, the water problem in Rathupaswala is not the only issue in the country. There many other burning issues in the country. If we are doing this with enmity towards the government then it creates a dangerous situation for the general public. Enmity is not good. With regards to the factory, we had a stance initially during decision making. We have reached the best solution for this problem. Yet, the people did not accept it. Therefore I request the people of Rathupaswala to let go of this issue and reach a peaceful solution.”
