Shooting in Nagoda: Injured Wife of Kalutara Restaurant Owner Succumbed to Injuries

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The wife of a restaurant owner who was seriously injured in a shooting in the Gallassa area of Nagoda, Kalutara, has succumbed to injuiries.

Police said she died early this morning while receiving treatment at Nagoda Hospital.

The deceased was a 52-year-old woman of Dodangoda.

A suspect in connection with the shooting was arrested yesterday in the Batticaloa.

The shooting took place last Friday, killing the 54-year-old restaurant owner and seriously injuring his wife.

According to police, two individuals who arrived at the restaurant on a motorcycle opened fire using a T-56 assault rifle.

The deceased businessman had previously been identified as a suspect in a murder case. However, police said proceedings in that case have since concluded.
