Rs. 80 Million Worth Of Ice Seized At Katunayake Airport

COLOMBO (News1st);A suspect has been arrested at the Katunayake Airport along with a haul of Ice (crystal methamphetamine) valued at approximately 80 million rupees.

The arrest was made by the Airport Police Narcotic Bureau.

The seized consignment of narcotics weighs 3 kilograms and 994 grams.

Police stated that the suspect brought the drugs concealed inside 11 boxes of biscuits and chocolates.

The suspect is a 34 year old businessman residing in the Jaya Mawatha area of Ratmalana.

Officers of the Airport Police Narcotic Bureau conducted the raid based on information received from a private informant.

During initial questioning, the suspect revealed that he obtained the stock of narcotics in Oman and arrived at Katunayake via Qatar.

The suspect, who was arrested last night, is set to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court today.
