Over 2,000 Fined For Seat Belt Violations On Expressways

COLOMBO (News1st);Police state that over 2,000 individuals have been fined for violating seat belt laws on expressways.

The fines were imposed during inspections conducted from the 19th up to today.

Police further stated that during these operations, nearly 1,000 passengers traveling on expressways were fined for failing to wear seat belts despite their vehicles being equipped with them.

The Expressway Transport Safety Division said that all vehicles are being continuously inspected at every expressway entry and exit point.

Police emphasized that no vehicle without functional seat belts fitted will be permitted to enter expressways.

Special attention will also be focused on passenger transport buses during these ongoing checks.
