Former Ministry Secretary M.K.B. Dissanayake Released on Bail in Rs. 5M Printing Scam

COLOMBO(News 1st): M.K.B. Dissanayake, a former Secretary to the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, was released on bail today.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered the suspect to be released on two personal bails of Rs. 1 million each.

A overseas travel ban was also imposed on him.

The suspect was arrested today by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over an incident where he caused a loss of over Rs. 5 million to the government by awarding a contract to print a book titled "Dahami Niwahanai Apekhama Rekagamu" to a close associate.

The case is scheduled to be called again on December 18.
