COLOMBO (News 1st): The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill, which includes the proposal to extend the retirement age of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judges, was presented to Parliament today.
In addition, the Judicature (Amendment) Bill, which includes amendments to extend the retirement age of judges in other courts, was also presented to Parliament.
They were presented by Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara.
According to the constitutional amendments, it is proposed to raise the retirement age of all judicial judges, including those of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, by two years.
Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara, provided clarifications regarding the relevant amendment in Parliament today.
He did so while responding to a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
