Dry Weather Impacts Over 70,000 People Across Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Defence says the prevailing dry weather conditions have affected 70,828 people from 22,759 families across several parts of Sri Lanka.

According to the Ministry, the districts affected by the prolonged dry spell include Ampara, Batticaloa, Monaragala and Ratnapura.

The Monaragala District has experienced the highest level of impact, with 33,023 individuals from 10,264 families affected by the adverse weather conditions.

Authorities noted that the ongoing dry weather has led to significant challenges for residents, particularly in accessing safe drinking water.

In response, arrangements have been made to provide water through bowsers to 12,801 people who are currently facing drinking water shortages.
