Defence Begins In Major Easter Sunday Terror Attack Case

COLOMBO (News 1st): The defence statements of the accused in the case filed over the Easter Sunday terror attacks began today before the three-judge High Court bench in Colombo. 

The case, which includes more than 23,000 charges, including conspiracy, is being heard before Justices Nawaratne Marasinghe, Ramanathan Kannan, and Sujeeva Nishshanka.

When the case was taken up, the accused Seinul Abdeen Mohamed Jasmi, Mohamed Musthafa Mohamed Riswan, and Meera Sahir Mohamed Nafli presented their statements from the dock. 

24 accused have been named in this case, and they are currently in remand custody.

The presentation of defence evidence by the accused is ongoing.
