Shiran Basik Granted 72-Day Detention Order

COLOMBO (News 1st);Shiran Basik, a large-scale drug trafficker who was arrested, has been granted permission to be detained and interrogated for 72 days.

Investigations regarding the suspect are being conducted by The Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) 

Shiran Basik, who had fled the country and was hiding in Dubai, was arrested and deported to Sri Lanka.

Subsequently, he was brought back to the island last night.

48-year-old Shiran Basik is a resident of the Dehiwala area.

Police said investigations are underway to determine whether he was involved in the recent prison clashes. 

Police also stated that information has been uncovered linking him to the 2012 Welikada Prison riot.
