Mother, Companion Arrested For After Child Found Abandoned

COLOMBO(News1st) ; The investigation into the abandonment of a four-year-old girl in the Mudunegammedda  area of Wattegama has taken a significant turn, with police arresting the child's mother and a man suspected to be her partner.

According to police, the arrests were made by officers attached to the Hali-Ela Police while the two suspects were travelling to a relative's residence in the Mawalagoda area along Kithalella Road in Hali-Ela.

The case attracted widespread attention after the young girl was reportedly found abandoned by the roadside in Wattegama.

Hali-Ela Police stated that the suspects will be handed over to the Wattegama Police for further investigations and legal proceedings.

The woman identified as the child's mother is aged 37, while the man believed to be her partner is 28 years old.
