S.B. Dissanayake's Brother Granted Bail in Rs. 27.5 Mn Fraud Case

COLOMBO (News 1st); Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Hanguranketha Organiser and former Provincial Councillor Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake, who was arrested in connection with an alleged financial fraud, has been released on bail.

He was granted bail after being produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today.

Officials informed the court that further investigations into the incident are continuing.

The suspect, who serves as the SJB’s Hanguranketha organiser, is also the brother of former Minister S.B. Dissanayake.

He was arrested in the Hanguranketha area by officers attached to the Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau.

The arrest was made in connection with an investigation launched following a complaint alleging that a resident of the Weeraketiya area had been defrauded of Rs. 27.5 million after being promised the issuance of an excise licence.
