Akuregoda Double Murder: Suspect Driver Brought Back to Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect linked to the murder of an Attorney and his spouse in Akuregoda was been arrested in the Maldives and brought back to Sri Lanka.

Police said the suspect was repatriated to the country last night via the Bandaranaike International Airport, in Katunayake.

Attorney Buddhika Mallawarachchi and his spouse who was also a lawyer were shot dead in Thalangama, Akuregoda on the February 13.

According to police this suspect drove the vehicle that was used to orchestrate the murder of the two Lawyers. 

Police stated that the killing was allegedly orchestrated by organised crime figure “Karandeniya Sudda.”

It has also been revealed that the slain lawyer had appeared in several cases linked to the same organised criminal.

Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
