11-Y/O Dies After Drowning Incident at Galle Face Beach; Search Continues for Missing Child

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An 11-year-old has died from a drowning incident while bathing in the Galle Face Beach, Colombo. 

The tragic incident occured when a group of children had gone bathing where six of them were swept into the water. 

Five of the children who drowned were rescued and admitted to hospital.

Out of the Five Children, Two were admitted to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka in Colombo, while three others were admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH).

An 11-year-old child from Maligawatte, who had been admitted to the National Hospital, later succumbed to injuries.

Search operations are continuing to locate another 10-year-old child who is still reportedly missing.
