New Laws Planned To Regulate Commercial Groundwater Extraction

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Water Resources Board states that new laws will be introduced to regulate the extraction of groundwater for commercial purposes.

Its Chairman, R.M.S. Bandara, noted that steps will be taken to amend the Water Resources Board Act for this purpose.

Coinciding with this year's National Environment Week, today has been designated as the Water and Water Sources Conservation Day.

The Chairman further stated that a number of programs have been organized today in parallel with this.
