Deniyaya Schools Reopen As Fever Control Measures Intensify

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Southern Province Chief Secretariat has announced that four schools in Deniyaya, which were recently closed due to a viral fever outbreak, will reopen today.

The schools resuming classes after being closed since last Thursday include Deniyaya National School, Deniyaya Saint Matthew's Bilingual School, Deniyaya Rajapaksa Vidyalaya, and Siddhartha Primary School in Pallegama.

Meanwhile, Krisantha W. Mahendra, the Secretary to the Southern Province Chief Ministry, stated that an urgent program is currently underway to contain the spread of the virus.

To date, 50 cases of viral fever have been reported in the Deniyaya area.
