COLOMBO (News 1st) - The services of two doctors have been suspended over the death of an infant at the Trincomalee District General Hospital.
The Ministry of Health stated that the infant died on April 9 during a strike action carried out by the Government Medical Officers’ Association.
Following a preliminary investigation into the incident, the ministry took steps to suspend the services of the hospital’s obstetrics and gynaecology specialist and a senior resident medical officer.
Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, stated that further investigations are ongoing to determine whether the doctors involved committed any criminal offence.
