Government To Import 200 Luxury Buses to Operate on Expressways And Long-Distance Services

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The government has taken steps to import 200 luxury buses for operations on Sri Lanka’s expressways and long-distance transport services.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, M.A.N. Dhammika Ratna, said the relevant procurement process for this has already commenced.

He stated that the move aims to meet the transportation needs of passengers travelling from Colombo to their hometowns during long holidays and festive seasons.

Around 170 of the buses will be deployed to operate on the expressway.

The remaining buses will be assigned to long-distance routes operating from Colombo to other parts of the country.
