COLOMBO (News 1st) - Four schools in the Deniyaya Education Zone have been temporarily closed due to the spread of a viral disease similar to influenza currently spreading within the area of the Medical Officer of Health Division in Deniyaya.
Deniyaya Zonal Director of Education, Nishaka Hettigoda, said the decision was taken to prevent the further spread of the virus among schoolchildren.
Accordingly, students of Deniyaya National School, Deniyaya Saint Matthew's Bilingual School, Deniyaya Rajapaksa Vidyalaya, and the Siddhartha Primary School in Pallegama have been closed for two days, today (07) and tomorrow (08).
The decision was made based on instructions from the Southern Provincial Governor’s Office.
