Sports Ministry Accepts Shammi's Resignation

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Minister of Sports have accepted the resignation of the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Shammi Silva, and the Executive Committee.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Sports, under the powers vested in the Minister of Sports by Sections 31 and 34 of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973, all administrative functions of Sri Lanka Cricket will be temporarily brought under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, effective today.

The Statement added that a committee is scheduled to be appointed shortly to find solutions to the current issues in cricket and to implement structural reforms.
