Presidential Commission on Coal Transactions Commences Inquiries

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate all past coal transactions in the country officially commenced its inquiries today. 

The commission has been established at the Hulfsdorp Court. 

Supreme Court Justice Gihan Kulatunga chairs the commission while Court of Appeal Judge Aditya Patabendige and High Court Judge Sanjeeva Somaratne have been appointed as members to the commission.  

The commission was recently appointed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake with full powers vested to probe the legality and transparency of coal procurement deals. 

The Secretary to the Commission, P.V. Bandulasena, stated that public notices calling for information regarding these transactions will be issued in the coming days.
