‘Walk for Peace’ Draws Global Attention to the Island of Peace

COLOMBO (News 1st); The venerable Maha Sangha engaged in the sacred Walk for Peace to the Island of Peace is presently proceeding towards the historic Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya.

This international Walk for Peace is being carried out at the request of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the support of Clean Sri Lanka, while the full coordination of the endeavour is being conducted by the Maharaja Media Network.

Led by the Venerable Pannakara Thero of Vietnam, together with members of the Maha Sangha, the walk commenced this (27) morning from the Yakkala Abeysekararama Viharaya.

The Maha Sangha advanced with dignity and serenity through Yakkala, Miriswatta, Mudungoda, Melgoda and Balummahara, continuing the sacred observance dedicated to peace.

As the Maha Sangha proceeded on the Walk for Peace towards the Island of Peace, thousands of devotees gathered along both sides of the road to bow reverently and pay homage, expressing deep faith and respect.

Passing through Kadawatha and Kirillawala, the Maha Sangha arrived at the Mahara Junction. Midday dana was respectfully offered to the Maha Sangha at Mahara President's College.

The Walk for Peace to the Island of Peace has already drawn the attention of the world.

The devotion, discipline and reverential conduct displayed by the people of Sri Lanka, who gathered along the route to venerate the Venerable Pannakara Thero of Vietnam and the accompanying Maha Sangha, have become a subject of global discussion.

As the Maha Sangha continues to spread the message of peace in all directions, the respectful and dignified conduct of the people of Sri Lanka has drawn worldwide attention, reinforcing the nation’s identity as the Island of Peace.
