COLOMBO (News 1st) - Posting a message on X, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that it is an honor to support the International Peace Walk organized under the leadership of Ven. Pannakara Thero, a Vietnamese monk who arrived in Sri Lanka from the United States.
In a message posted on X, the President highlighted that the International Peace Walk promotes Mindfulness, Loving-kindness (Metta), Unity and harmony among all citizens.
President Dissanayake invited all Sri Lankans to reflect on the eternal values of peace and compassion that define the country's heritage.
He expressed his hope that the initiative would strengthen the bond of unity among Sri Lankan ethnic groups and send a powerful message of peace to the entire world.
The walk starting from the sacred city of Anuradhapura to the final walk from Kelaniya to Independence Square will mark a powerful culmination, a symbolic arrival at the nation’s most prominent civic space, where faith meets democracy and peace meets the future.
