COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has informed former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to submit details of his assets, expenses, and sources of income through a properly prepared affidavit.

According to CIABOC, the original communication requesting this information was made on December 14, 2015, and it has now been 10 years since that request was issued.

The commission stated that, to date, the former president has not submitted the required affidavit.

CIABOC said that an investigation into Mahinda Rajapaksa’s assets was launched in 2015, and the information sought is required for the purposes of that investigation.

In a statement issued today, CIABOC said the former president has now been instructed to submit the affidavit on or before April 10, 2026. The commission emphasized that the affidavit must be properly prepared and include full details of assets, expenses, and income sources.

The order has been issued under the provisions of the Anti‑Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023, CIABOC said.

The commission further stated that, as 10 years have passed since the first communication was made, no further extensions will be granted for submission of the affidavit.
