GCE A/L 2025 Island Toppers Announced Across Streams

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Examinations has officially released the island rankings for the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, following the release of results late last night. Topping the list in the Biology stream is Dilan Sanjana Karunaratne of Royal College, Colombo, while Devendran Thirukkumaran from Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya has secured the first place island-wide in the Physical Science stream.

In the Commerce stream, Mohamed Zubaideen Mohamed Farhan of Kattankudy Central College has claimed the top spot. Meanwhile, Achintha Mihiranga Rathnayake from Wayamba Royal College, Kurunegala, emerged as the island’s first in the Arts stream.

The technology sectors also saw outstanding achievements, with Heshan Anujaya Wanigasuriya of Bandaranayake College, Gampaha, ranking first in Engineering Technology, and Ishani Manodha of Bandaranayake Central College, Veyangoda, securing the top rank in the Biosystems Technology stream.

According to the Department, candidates can now access their results online at www.doenets.lk or www.results.exams.gov.lk. Out of the 281,810 students who sat for the exam, approximately 62.64 percent have qualified for university entrance. This includes over 146,000 school applicants and more than 30,000 private candidates.

For those wishing to apply for re-scrutiny, the Department announced that online applications will be accepted from the 6th to the 22nd of this month. Finally, speaking at a press briefing this morning, the Commissioner General of Examinations, Indika Kumari Liyanage, assured the public that the upcoming Ordinary Level examinations will proceed as scheduled without any delays.
