COLOMBO (News 1st); Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced the launch of the 78th wave of its ongoing retaliatory campaign, Operation True Promise 4, targeting what it described as highly sensitive Israeli sites as well as several United States military bases in the region, Iran’s Press TV reported.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the IRGC said the latest phase marked a “significant development” in the operation, with missiles striking targets as millions of Iranians took to the streets in rallies to show support for the Islamic Republic, according to the broadcaster.
The IRGC described the latest strikes as setting “a distinct record in the timeline of the war.” It said targets in the occupied port city of Eilat, the northern part of Tel Aviv, and Dimona, a heavily fortified city near Israel’s nuclear reactor, were hit using Emad and multi-warhead Qadr missile systems, along with attack drones.
The statement said this was the second time Dimona had been struck in recent days, following a previous attack that reportedly caused more than 200 casualties in the city and the nearby city of Arad.
According to the IRGC, the 78th wave of the operation also included attacks on several US military bases across the region.
Describing its actions as “impact-driven operations,” the IRGC said it was “negotiating with the vile, child-killing aggressors” through military pressure. It warned that the conflict could intensify, noting that most of its combat units and millions of members of the Basij volunteer force had not yet entered the battlefield.
The statement further warned that any attempts by adversaries to compensate for losses or alter the course of the war would be met with an immediate and severe response, saying Iran’s “heavy blow” would fall “in less than an instant” on those involved in planning, carrying out, or supporting aggression.
According to Press TV, Operation True Promise 4 began shortly after Israel and the United States launched what Iran described as unprovoked attacks against the country late last month.
