Former MP Sajin de Vass Indicted on Corruption Charges

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Member of Parliament Sajin de Vass Gunawardena was indicted today before the Colombo High Court on corruption charges.

The indictments relate to four separate charges, including allegations that the government suffered financial losses due to the acquisition of an aircraft for Mihin Lanka Airlines on a lease basis without following proper and lawful tender procedures.

According to the charges, the alleged offences occurred between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2007, during which time the aircraft was procured without adhering to legally required procurement processes.
