COLOMBO (News 1st); The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed the loss of a U.S. KC‑135 refueling aircraft during Operation Epic Fury, after an incident involving two aircraft operating in friendly airspace.
According to CENTCOM, the incident resulted in one aircraft going down in western Iraq, while the second aircraft involved was able to land safely. Rescue operations are currently underway to locate and assist those aboard the downed aircraft.
Military officials emphasized that the incident was not caused by hostile fire or friendly fire, and no additional circumstances regarding the cause have yet been released.
