Sri Lankan Among Injured in UAE Attacks; Emergency Hotlines Open

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A Sri Lankan national is reported to be among those injured following air attacks in the United Arab Emirates.

According to foreign media reports, 58 foreigners, including one Sri Lankan, sustained minor injuries during the incident.

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) says that embassy officials have been briefed on the emergency protocols to be followed.

The SLBFE urged all Sri Lankan migrant employees in the region to immediately contact their respective embassies during an emergency. 

Due to the prevailing instability in the region, citizens are advised to limit unnecessary travel and strictly follow instructions from diplomatic missions.

Meanwhile, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued the following safety guidelines; 

Accordingly, it has been strictly advised to stay updated via reliable local media and official government announcements of the host country.

Avoid non-essential travel and large public gatherings.

Maintain constant contact with the nearest Sri Lankan diplomatic mission.

Keep mobile phones fully charged at all times.

Always carry valid identification (ID) and essential travel documents.
