January 2026 Records Highest Monthly Air Passenger Traffic in Eight Years

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Airports and Aviation Services has announced that January 2026 has been recorded as the month with the highest number of air passengers in a single month over the past eight years.

Accordingly, services were provided to 1,045,097 air passengers in January this year

The previous January with the highest number of air passengers was in 2018. 

The Airports and Aviation Services Company stated that 1,034,687 air passengers were served in January 2018.

Meanwhile, the company also announced that in 2025, services were provided to 939,539 air passengers while handling a significant number of air passengers during the year.
