Former First Lady Seeks More Time to Give CID Statement

COLOMBO (Neews 1st) - The wife of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, has requested two weeks’ time to provide a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The CID stated that she sought the extension due to illness.

Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe had been summoned to appear before the CID today.

The CID recently informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court that it intends to record a statement from Professor Maithri Wickremesinghe in connection with the alleged misuse of more than Rs. 16.6 million in state funds for a private visit to the UK by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
