COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka, Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, declared Iran’s readiness to elevate its partnership with Sri Lanka to an unprecedented level, one built on ancient cultural ties and strengthened through modern economic collaboration.
Speaking before an audience of dignitaries and invitees, Dr. Delkhosh began by grounding the relationship between the two nations in civilizational links stretching back millennia. He emphasized that although formal diplomatic engagement is relatively young, spanning less than six decades, the spirit of the relationship runs far deeper.
“Iran and Sri Lanka share long-standing historical and civilization ties that date back thousands of years. These relations are grounded in cultural and civilization affinity,” he stated.
Dr. Delkhosh described a relationship shaped not by chance but by mutual understanding, political goodwill, and steady economic exchange, evolving in tandem with regional and global developments.

Dr. Delkhosh reiterated that Iran views Sri Lanka not only as a friend but as a strategic partner, capable of joining hands in projects that shape regional influence.
