COLOMBO (News1st): The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) initiated a trade union action again, from 8:00 AM today.
The association said that they are withdrawing from five specific services while continuing with other routine duties.
Despite the strike, reports indicate that daily operations at the Colombo National Hospital and several other major hospitals across the island are functioning as usual.
Accordingly, Following an executive committee meeting held yesterday afternoon, the GMOA decided to withdraw from the following:
To issue prescriptions for drugs that must be purchased from external pharmacies.
To recommend medical tests to be conducted at private/external laboratories.
To open or operate any new units within the hospital system if they have not been formally approved by doctors.
Withdrawing participation from mobile health camps and specialized clinics as well as to examine patients if a supporting attendant/nurse is not present to assist.
