COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Railways says that train services along three routes suspended due to Cyclone Ditwah, will resume from today.
Railway Media Spokesperson Asanka Samarasinghe said the Night Mail train between Colombo Fort–Trincomalee and the Pulathisi Intercity Train are among the services being resumed.
Accordingly, the Night Mail Train between Colombo Fort and Trincomalee will recommence daily operations from 9.30 p.m. tonight, running in both directions.
Previously, the Pulathisi Intercity Train that operated only on Friday evenings from Colombo to Batticaloa and returned on Sundays, will resume services daily from today.
The train will depart Colombo at 3.15 p.m. daily and leaving Batticaloa at 1.30 p.m. for the return journey.
The Udaya Devi Express, which departs Colombo for Batticaloa at 6.00 a.m., will also resume daily operations starting today.
Meanwhile, several special bus services have been introduced between Maho and Anuradhapura.
These buses are being operated to facilitate passenger transport as the Maho–Anuradhapura railway section has been temporarily closed since yesterday for urgent repair work.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board said additional services will be deployed based on passenger demand.
