Sri Lanka Arrests Chinese Man For Robbery in Flight

COLOMBO (News1st):A 25-year-old Chinese national was arrested by Katunayake Airport Police for allegedly stealing cash and gold jewelry from a Sri Lankan woman during a flight from Dubai to Colombo.

The arrest came after the victim lodged a formal complaint, prompting an immediate investigation. 

According to police, the suspect is accused of stealing USD 3,660, EUR 500, and a collection of gold ornaments from the woman’s handbag during the journey.

Authorities revealed that the suspect was apprehended at a guesthouse in Kimbulapitiya, where he was found in possession of the stolen valuables. 

Police confirmed that the suspect will be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today.
