Two Lawyers Among Five Arrested With Drugs in Mirissa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Permission has been granted to remand the lawyer arrested with drugs in Mirissa until 16 January for questioning.

This was after the suspect was produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court.

The four others, including another lawyer who was also arrested, have likewise been remanded until 16 January.

Police said all five, including the two lawyers, were apprehended at a hotel in Mirissa.

They also seized 800 milligrams of cocaine from one of the lawyers.

Authorities confirmed that the lawyers involved are employed at the HulftsDorp Magistrate’s Court.
