COLOMBO (News1st): The Ministry of Public Security has taken steps to introduce a National Digital Motor Insurance Card, aimed at modernizing and digitalizing the country's insurance sector.

Minister of Public Security, Ananda Wijepala, says that instead of the physical insurance cards used previously, policyholders will now be able to securely access their insurance information via a digital system linked to their phone number.

To facilitate the monitoring of this system, 500 tablets were donated to the Department of Police by the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) and various insurance companies.

Additionally, Minister Wijepala also announced that the e-Passport system will also be implemented within this year.
