Child Dies Following Assault, Police Arrest Father

COLOMBO (News1st): A 14-year-old has succumbed to injuries following an assault in Nooriyawatta, Deraniyagala.

Police officers arrived at the scene following a tip-off received regarding a child being assaulted and discovered the deceased lying near the house.

According to the police, the child was rushed to the Nooriya Hospital by the officers, where the medical officer confirmed that he had already passed away upon admission.

The victim's father has been arrested on suspicion in connection with the incident.
