Showers and Thundershowers Expected in Several Provinces

COLOMBO (News1st): The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Eastern, Central, North-Central, and Uva provinces.

The department noted that fairly heavy rains of about 75 mm can be expected in some places within the Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Batticaloa and Ampara districts.

A spells of rain are also expected in the Northern and North-Western provinces. In other areas of the island, showers or thundershowers may occur at scattered locations after approximately 2:00 PM.

The Department of Meteorology requests the public to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.
