Train Services on Colombo–Batticaloa And Colombo–Kankesanthurai Routes Resume Today

COLOMBO (News 1st): Train services between Colombo-Batticaloa and Colombo-Kankesanthurai, which were suspended due to disasters, will resume today.

Passengers traveling from Colombo Fort to Batticaloa can take the 6:00 AM train bound for Trincomalee. 

Upon reaching the Gal Oya railway station, transport facilities to Batticaloa will be provided via a connecting train.

The Department of Railways said that similar arrangements are in place for passengers traveling to Colombo. Accordingly, those taking the 5:00 AM train from Batticaloa to Gal Oya can transfer to the Colombo-bound train arriving from Trincomalee.

Train operations between Colombo Fort and Kankesanthurai, which were also halted due to disasters, resume today.

The Department of Railways announced that the following schedule is in place starting today:

Two trips between Colombo Fort and Kankesanthurai.

Two trips between Anuradhapura and Kankesanthurai.
