Payment of 77% of Relief Allowance Completed, says NDRSC

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC) says that 77% of the Rs. 25,000 relief allowance allocated to individuals affected by the disaster has already been paid.

Assistant Secretary to NDRSC, Jayathissa Munasinghe stated that the remaining payments will be completed within this week.

Out of the total number of houses eligible for the relief allowance, payments have already been made to 342,952 houses, while 113,294 houses are yet to receive the assistance. A total of Rs. 8,573 million has already been disbursed under this scheme.

Assistant Secretary Munasinghe has requested Divisional Secretaries and District Secretaries to ensure that the remaining payments are completed by the end of this week.
