COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara, has invited the public to submit views and suggestions on the proposed Prevention of Terrorism Bill.

He said the draft bill has been prepared in all three languages and is now available on the official website of Ministry of Justice.

He noted that the current government had pledged, prior to assuming office, to repeal the existing Prevention of Terrorism Act and introduce new legislation that safeguards human rights and freedom of expression.

Accordingly, a 17-member committee, chaired by President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsekularatne, has been appointed to repeal the previous law and draft the new legislation.

The Minister further requested that constructive views and proposals be submitted to the Secretary of the Ministry of Justice on or before February 28, 2026, to assist in finalising the bill.
