COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government has announced that special leave will be granted to public servants who were unable to report for duty due to heavy rainfall, floods, landslides, or road blockages.

Secretary to the Ministry, S. Aloka Bandara stated in a circular that public servants who could not reach their workplace because public transport services were disrupted from their place of residence, will be eligible for this special leave.

Additionally, employees who were unable to report for duty due to road blockages, accidents, or displacement caused by these adverse conditions will also be entitled to the special leave.

The circular specifies that this leave must be properly recorded in the institution’s leave register.

This special leave applies only to public servants who could not report for duty during November and December of this year due to heavy rainfall, floods, landslides, landslips, or strong winds.
