Duplicate Sewwandi Case Sparks Disciplinary Action

COLOMBO (News 1st); A police sergeant attached to the Colombo Crimes Division has been suspended for allegedly neglecting official duties while responsible for suspects held under a 90-day detention order, including Nanda Kumar Takshi alias ‘Duplicate Sewwandi’.

The disciplinary action follows claims that the officer failed to adhere to proper protocols during the custody of suspects linked to the February 19 shooting inside the Aluthkade court complex, where notorious organized criminal Ganemulla Sanjeewa was gunned down.

Takshi and several others were being interrogated in connection with the assassination, considered one of the most high-profile underworld-related incidents in recent months.
