NBRO Carries Out Research On Over 2,300 Landslide Risk Sites

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) announced that it has initiated research into 2,377 sites identified as vulnerable to landslides.

Senior Geologist at the NBRO, Wasantha Senadeera, says 529 final reports concerning these locations have already been issued. 

A total of 56 research teams have been deployed across seven districts to manage this extensive workload.

Senior Geologist at the NBRO, Wasantha Senadeera also reported that the heavy rainfall experienced recently led to 1,322 incidents across the country, including landslides and earth slips.

The NBRO has also launched a program to identify recent landslide locations using satellite imagery.
